Literacy Rate of Orissa - The literacy rate
in Orissa as per the 2001 census was 63.09 percent that is quite
compatible to the All India percentage of literate people that is
65.38%.
The state though has a lesser percentage of female literacy than the
all India figure. As per the data available with some of the reputed
organizations, the following are the enrollments and drop outs in the
schools in the year 1999-2000.
There were about 1115.07 kids in the age group of 6-11 years belonging
to the SC category who were enrolled in the school in the mentioned
year. Whereas wit the increase in the age that is from 11-14 years, this
figure became a mere 55.55 percent.
